Workplace health

How healthy is your workforce?

Most of our waking hours are spent at work, which means that the working environment can play a significant part in our health and wellbeing.

Since the Government’s launch 10 years ago of the “Health, Work and Wellbeing Initiative”, the main purpose to improve the health and wellbeing of the working age population, there has now been a move towards “wellness management”.

A review of the health of the working age population was carried out in 2008 by Dame Carol Black, who introduced the “Workplace Wellbeing Charter” which provides a set of recognised standards for employers to work towards.  Dame Carol Black’s overall aim was to encourage employers “to commit to making their workplaces a more supportive and productive environment in which employees can flourish”.

A proactive approach to health and wellbeing within the workplace is KEY to a happier and healthier workforce.  Investment in staff health and wellbeing does not have to involve high costs; simple measures can make a BIG DIFFERENCE.
