Move it and lose it (MILI)

Would you like to lose weight? Are you overweight? Do you often feel tired and sluggish? Would you like to have more energy?

The Move it and Lose it workshops, led by our registered nutritionist, is a 12 week programme for adults. The programme focuses on healthy eating, nutrition and exercise to help people lose weight and keep it off in the long term.

These workshops cover a wide variety of topics from challenging the myths about diets, blood sugar balance, snacks and treats, exercise and how stress and lack of sleep may affect appetite and food cravings.

To join the Move it and Lose it workshops you need to have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 25 to 40. To find out your BMI, take a look at the BMI calculator on the NHS website

Sessions are held at the following venues:

  • Westgate Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings 6.30-8.00pm
  • Westgate Leisure Centre on Wednesdays 10-11.30am
  • The Grange Leisure Centre on Thursdays 9.45 - 11.15am
  • The Selsey Centre on Thursdays 1pm - 2.30pm

Classes run over 12 weeks, with a 45 minute nutrition talk followed by a 45 minute exercise class. This course is to help you get back to feeling healthy and introducing physical activity (all levels) whilst having fun.

All workshops include a private weekly weigh-in and group discussion, costing £30 for the whole course to be paid at the start of the first session.

Booking is essential and you can only join in the first 4 weeks of the course starting. If you would like any more information or to join one of the workshops please email Chichester Wellbeing or call us on 01243 521041.

Food diaries can be a great help if you're trying to eat more healthily and lose weight. Have a go at filling one in for a week and see where you could make some small and simple changes.

Wendy attended the Weight Loss Workshop (now Move it and Lose it) at Westgate Leisure Centre and lost over a stone in 12 weeks.

Wendy says "It is not pushing any products. You're speaking to someone with solid nutritional background and the groups are smaller, so you have that personal contact. It is about being focused on what we should eat to make ourselves healthy, not just how to lose weight."
